ඔස්ට්‍රේලියානු ආරම්භක පිතිකරු ඩේවිඩ් වෝනර් ජාත්‍යන්තර එක්දින ක්‍රිකට් පිටියෙන් සමු ගැනීමට තීරණය කර තිබෙනවා.
ඒ, ජනවාරි 3 වැනිදා පාකිස්තානයට එරෙහිව සිඩ්නි හී දී ආරම්භ වීමට නියමිතව තෙවැනි ටෙස්ට් තරගයෙන් පසුව ටෙස්ට් ක්‍රිකට් පිටියෙන් ද සමු ගැනීමට ඔහු තීරණය කර ඇති පසුබිමකයි.
ඒ අනුව නිමා වූ 2023 ලෝක කුසලාන එක්දින ක්‍රිකට් තරගාවලියේ ඉන්දියාවට එරෙහි අවසන් මහා තරගය ඔහු ක්‍රීඩා කළ අවසන් ජාත්‍යන්තර එක්දින තරගය බවට පත් වනු ඇති.
කෙසේ වෙතත්, 2025 අයි.සී.සී ශූරයින්ගේ කුසලාන තරගාවලිය සදහා කණ්ඩායමට අවශ්‍ය වුවහොත් ක්‍රීඩා කිරීමට තමා සූදානමින් පසුවන බව ද වෝනර් සදහන් කළා.

20යි 20 ලීග් තරගාවලි ද වැඩි වශයෙන් ක්‍රීඩා කිරීමේ අරමුණ ඇතිවයි ඩේවිඩ් වෝනර් එක්දින පිටියට සමු දීමට පියවර ගෙන ඇත්තේ.
ඔහු එළඹෙන ILT20 තරගාවලියේ දී Dubai Capitals කණ්ඩායම නියෝජනය කිරීමට නියමිතව තිබෙනවා.
එක්දින හා ටෙස්ට් පිටියට සමු දුන්න ද, තවදුරටත් වෝනර් 20යි 20 ජාත්‍යන්තර තරග සදහා ක්‍රීඩා කිරීමට නියමිතයි.
සමු ගැනීම නිවේදනය කරමින් ඩේවිඩ් වෝනර් මෙලෙස අදහස් පල කළා.
“I’m definitely retiring from one-day cricket as well,”
“That was something that I had said through the World Cup, get through that, and winning it in India, I think that’s a massive achievement.
“It was a decision that I was very, very comfortable with. To win in India, from where we were, was absolutely amazing.
“When we lost two games in a row in India, the bond just got stronger with each other and it’s not by fluke or by chance that we were able to get to where we were. The heroics of Maxi [Glenn Maxwell], the captaincy and the skills and execution of the way that we played against India was phenomenal, and not to dismiss the Kolkata semi-final as well.”
“So I’ll make that decision today, to retire from those forms, which does allow me to go and play some other leagues around the world and sort of get the one-day team moving forward a little bit.”
“I definitely am keen to pursue playing Big Bash next year. There’s going to be conversations behind the scenes to allow me to do that,”
“Obviously I’ve joined the Fox commentary team next year during the Test series against India, which I’m looking forward to. There’s a BBL window that we’re able to play, and then quite clearly there has been a lot of talk about the ILT20 which will be starting, I’m pretty sure, after the BBL.
“So I would like to play (the BBL) in and around the commentary stuff.
“I’ve just got to make sure that I’m, one, playing to the best of my ability and, two, not hindering the team’s performances or upsetting the balance of the team.”
